Debuting the Spanish Language Handouts
We’re especially excited to debut the Spanish-language version of these materials, following high demand during last year’s Presidential election and now for the Supreme Court race. A big thank you to our Board Member Camille Solberg for her valuable guidance.
Camille has graciously agreed to serve on every board I’ve ever formed, starting from our time together on the original Catholic Task Force after George W. Bush set the record for most Latino support at 44% that was only broken this year by Donald Trump, according to Axios. After her career in Spanish media, she worked for Ron Johnson, and our paths eventually crossed again as we swapped states—she moved from Wisconsin to Georgia, and I went from Georgia to Wisconsin (via Alabama).
Harvard Study Highlights Latino Concerns Over Transgender Issues
Even liberal researchers at Harvard have acknowledged that the left’s advocacy for transgender issues, including the idea that there are more than two genders, was a driving factor behind Trump’s record support among Latino voters. A Harvard study revealed that the term “Latinx,” which is preferred by transgender advocates, is viewed by many Latinos as “a bourgeois, coastal, white imposition on working-class Latinos.” You can read more about the study here.
Political Divide on Latino Voters and Immigration
In a follow-up report, liberal outlets like Axios attempted to criticize Trump as racist in the same pieces in which they were forced to acknowledge that he had broken George W. Bush’s record for Latino support—gaining 58 percent of the Latino vote in Michigan alone. According to a political science professor at Texas Rio Grande Valley, the shift in the Latino vote first seen in South Texas toward conservatism, especially on the Mexican border, has been happening for years. “I think what you’re seeing nationally is something that’s been going on in South Texas for years—this idea that the Democratic Party does not align with their values.”
Immigration: Presenting the Same Issues to All Voters
When we published the Trump vs. Harris comparison, some suggested that we exclude immigration from the Spanish version. However, our position is clear: we present the same issues to Spanish-speaking audiences as we do to the English-speaking majority. We hope all candidates hoping for Latino support take note of how conservative Spanish-speaking voters are on these issues and continue to update their responses to the questionnaires we provided to both candidates.
You can review Susan Crawford’s positions here and Brad Schmiel’s positions here, and we have told both candidates we will update any answers they submit without edit.
Empathy vs. Compassion
A critical question facing politicians and society is whether to express empathy for those with gender dysphoria, which the Mayo Clinic and other medical authorities define as “a feeling of distress that can happen when a person’s gender identity differs from the sex assigned at birth,” or whether to show compassion, which conservatives believe entails not allowing the billion dollar sex change industry to make money with life altering operations on children or allowing women being victimized by men in their restroom, sports or prisons. These terms are often used interchangeably, but they have distinct meanings.
Latino Voters Conservative on 2 Genders, Abortion, Even Immigration
It’s no surprise that Latinos overwhelmingly lean conservative on issues like gender dysphoria. A Marquette poll shows that 63% of all Americans support the government declaring there are only two sexes, and this Axios poll 2 years ago showed that only 29 percent of voters who lived in homes that spoke only Spanish believed abortion should be legal – much less late term abortion.
Apparently the big surprise for many in the media was the more recent Axios poll revealing that Latino support for the border wall and deportations is on the rise. In fact, 64% of Latinos now believe the President should have the authority to shut down the border COMPLETELY if too many immigrants are crossing illegally. You can read more about this Axios poll here.
Door Hanger Requests and Outreach Efforts
We’ve received over 141 requests for printed door hangers, ranging from hundreds to thousands for large churches, events, or door-to-door operations. If you’d like to request a large number of printed door hangers, you can do so here. Our Field Directors, along with dozens of canvassers pictured below, will deliver the materials to you and provide insights on the positive reactions we’ve encountered during recent outreach events, including our latest Pastors Luncheon.
Nationwide Interest in Wisconsin Supreme Court Race
Wisconsin natives currently across the country, from DC to Texas, reached out this weekend to inquire about the Supreme Court race. They were pleased to learn that we not only have dozens of canvassers working across the state, but also that we’ve received hundreds of requests for printed materials for churches and events. Now, these handouts are just a click away for distribution in both English and Spanish.
A Visit to DC and Growing Support for Our Outreach
This weekend I took a quick flight to DC to the Marquette at Georgetown basketball game, where I ended up speaking with Wisconsin natives who are involved in implementing new national policies. They were eager to hear about the Wisconsin Supreme Court race and were particularly impressed with the work we’re doing to support informed voting. Additionally, the twin brother (Trever Nehls) of Congressman Troy Nehls, who told President Trump the decisive impact Wisconsin Faith and Freedom Coalition had on conservative turnout after we toured the state last year, decided to stay with his Wisconsin family for a month to help with our outreach efforts.
The Importance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court Race
It’s clear that people across the nation understand the significance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court race. This is THE most important election in the country, and we urge you to review and distribute our comparison handouts to help ensure all voters are informed before casting their ballots on April 1.
