11:15 am CT, April 22, 2025 – A few minutes ago I joined a meeting of conservative policy leaders in the Deep South to announce that due to the growing number of speaking and training requests nationwide, we have begun forming a new 501(c)(4) organization: Freedom and Family Action.
This new entity will allow us to operate beyond the geographic and political limitations of our Wisconsin-based 501(c)(3), the Wisconsin Faith and Freedom Coalition. With it, our team will be able to engage in lobbying, political activity, and expand our successful outreach model into new regions.
To better understand the kind of impact we aim to replicate nationally, see the Case Study on ActBlue at the bottom of this blog, which chronicles our years-long investigation and reform efforts — including a 2020 exposé that was retweeted by President Trump — that ultimately helped bring long-overdue accountability and scrutiny to the biggest liberal fundraising platform. It may be the only time in my life a President quotes ME!

Why the “Texas–Wisconsin Border”?
While we already have strategic meetings lined up in the Northeast and Deep South, we have a special interest in what we call the “Texas–Wisconsin Border.” Here’s why:
- Texas helped launch Wisconsin Faith and Freedom.
Hundreds of volunteer hours from Texas supporters helped us establish the Wisconsin Faith and Freedom Coalition in addition to Texas Representative Troy Nehls being a key ally when I led off speakers on a Trump surrogate bus tour in Wisconsin. - Our breakthrough leaders come from both states.
Wisconsin Representative Bryan Steil and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are the first two leaders with breakthrough victories to curtain ActBlue’s illicit practices. - It’s personal.
Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, my favorite restaurant was called The Texas-Wisconsin Border. It served Wisconsin-style brats and chili alongside Texas BBQ — an odd but fitting symbol of the collaboration we’re building (and no, there’s no actual border between Texas and Wisconsin!).
Looking Ahead
The increasing number of speaking requests — especially after our conservative candidate comparisons were put in the hands or on the doors of 402,000 Wisconsinites, which some suggest indirectly resulted in Wisconsin delivering the 270th elector to President Trump — shows our Doors-Churches-Postcards program works.
Our pilot program in a key Wisconsin county shifted the vote 10 points more conservative in the April 2025 State Supreme Court race, compared to just a 1-point statewide shift. Restoration News recently featured our program and two other very effective efforts in Wisconsin.
Once finalized, Freedom and Family Action can accept non-tax-deductible contributions to support the kind of bold, effective political work that moves the needle — not only in Wisconsin, but across the country.
Stay tuned for more updates — and thank you for being part of this growing movement.
Case Study: Exposing ActBlue
September 12, 2020 – Concerned about potential foreign influence in American politics, we first exposed the billions of dollars being funneled through ActBlue from unverifiable sources. Our exclusive report to Fox News (link) showed that nearly half of ActBlue’s 2019 donations came from “unemployed” donors. This revelation, amplified by the retweet by President Trump shown above, sparked nationwide scrutiny and led to efforts to track “Smurfs” — fake identities used to disguise donation origins.
July 12, 2021 – After the 2020 election, we raised further alarms in Newsweek (link) about foreign influence, highlighting the University of Pennsylvania’s undisclosed Chinese donations and its questionable relationship with then-candidate Joe Biden, who was paid $911,000 despite not teaching a single class.
July 21, 2024 – The New York Times reported ActBlue raised $50 million in a single day (link), based on its own live donation ticker. Yet, the same vulnerabilities we identified years earlier remained unaddressed.
August 8, 2024 – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton became the first official to win a major victory on this front, forcing ActBlue to adopt at least some of the fraud prevention measures used by every other vendor — including requiring CVV codes on credit card donations (link).
December 10, 2024 – House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (WI-01) announced findings from a formal subpoena of ActBlue, revealing ActBlue finally agreeing to some changes such as the simple step of asking for the CVV code like every other credit card vendor and finally rejecting donations from foreign gift cards and high-risk countries (link).
March 6, 2025 – The New York Times and Free Beacon reported internal turmoil at ActBlue, with at least seven senior officials resigning and a company lawyer alleging retaliation (link).
