WI Canvassers Back After Winning Mountain Boot Camp

3 Great Ladies Deserve Credit for Amazing Upset Wins on Lookout and Signal Mountain

When Holly Klucarich decided to take the Wisconsin canvassers up and down two very difficult to canvass mountains with anti-lightning  mountains as a two-week boot camp to prepare them for the next few months in Wisconsin, we didn’t know it would become the toughest canvassing we’d ever done. I want to start with Holly’s update from last night, then add a few additional notes afterward.

As you read this, keep in mind that other paid canvassers not with us were literally walking around in easier areas with none of their candidates’ literature and recording doors as though they had knocked them. You can get ripped off in this business, or you can get this kind of effort:

Great news, team — Michele Reneau WON! 🎉🇺🇸

Wanted to share the exciting news with everyone tonight! We spent most of our time in Tennessee knocking Signal Mountain and Lookout Mountain (both stunning wins) as well as hitting Red Bank, and Soddy-Daisy.

This was definitely one of the more memorable projects! We worked through torrential storms and flooding on steep mountain roads with no shoulders or guardrails, along with downed trees and power lines that made some areas incredibly difficult to reach. At one point, storm damage blocked the road so badly that we couldn’t even get the vehicle back to Justin (Holt), and he had to walk out to meet us.

The flooding got so bad in some areas that Carly and Justin were up to their ankles in water. Thankfully, after all the rain we encountered on our last project, we had the foresight to buy everyone hiking/water shoes this time around—and they definitely got put to good use! 😂 Rain, mud, mountains, umbrellas (or occasionally no umbrellas 🤦🏼‍♀️)—we definitely had some adventures on this one!

A special thank you to Tre for coming out and working alongside us. It was primarily my family on this project, and having him there to jump in and help tackle those Tennessee mountains—and everything Mother Nature threw our way—was very much appreciated.

What I loved most was watching everyone adapt to whatever came our way, laugh through some pretty crazy circumstances, and just keep going. I don’t think any of us will forget Signal Mountain anytime soon!

Seeing Michele win tonight makes those memories and long days that much sweeter. It’s always exciting to see a candidate we worked for cross the finish line and know we had the opportunity to play a small part in it.

Another win for the books! Congratulations to Michele and everyone who worked to make it happen! 🇺🇸👏

The Rest of the Story

The photo at the top is my favorite update from a canvasser this year. It came from our only Tennessee campaign and perfectly reflected all three words in our organizations’ names: Faith, Family, and Freedom.

Because Holly Klucarich personally ran the entire Tennessee effort—and her teams along have now surpassed 100,000 door knocks this year—I wanted to share her description of the “boot camp” up Lookout and Signal Mountain that our Wisconsin canvassers endured before all returning to Wisconsin this week. As I’ve often said, Holly could run this organization herself if needed. I just happened to survive another day.

Michele Reneau first became one of our favorite candidates when she pulled off one of the greatest upsets in Tennessee politics, defeating House Majority Leader Patsy Hazlewood. That especially caught our attention since I was the only one in U.S. history to defeat a sitting U.S. House Majority Leader in a primary.

This year Michele had hundreds of local volunteers. The one challenge was that the hardest parts of the district to reach were Lookout Mountain and Signal Mountain—ironically the two areas she had lost during her upset victory by 142 votes two years ago. Holly decided the perfect training exercise for our Wisconsin canvassers would be to head to those mountains, provide Michele’s campaign with voter feedback, and simply try to keep the margins respectable in those difficult areas.

Instead, Holly’s team helped accomplish the unthinkable. Michele won both mountains on her way to an overwhelming 60-40 victory.

We especially appreciated the tremendous church support she received, particularly from Calvary Chapel. The Chattanooga Times Free Press incorrectly reported tonight – while sulking about Michelle’s win, that the church was violating federal law by supporting her. In reality, the IRS interpretation long used to silence pastors has thankfully been abandoned. While our own 501(c)(3) does not endorse candidates, churches are no longer forced into silence regarding political issues and candidates. It was encouraging to see people of faith exercising those freedoms.

The other incredible woman in the photo above with John Pudner is Hamilton County Republican Chair Gail Greene, who led an outstanding local effort while also celebrating her husband Derek Greene’s victory in another race that same evening.

The third incredible lady, pictured below, is my close friend of decades, Rhedona Rose. Rhedona headed the Tennessee Farm Bureau during the decade-plus that I ran the political operation for the Alabama Farmers Federation—one of three states where we helped Republicans take control of the legislature while I was living there.

I wrote last week that Rhedona’s brother, Congressman John Rose, might rally enough to erase what had once been a 53-point deficit, and he mounted an incredible comeback. He ultimately convinced 57 percent of to vote against the popular Marsha Blackburn, erasing an astonishing 43 points of that deficit.

The obstacle, exactly as I noted last week, was the presence of another excellent grassroots conservative candidate who connected extremely well with talk radio listeners—Monty Fritts. His 23 percent of the vote prevented Rose from consolidating enough anti-Blackburn support, leaving Rose about ten points short.

When we engineered Dave Brat’s historic upset of Eric Cantor, we erased a 50-plus-point lead as well. But one of our earliest priorities was convincing a third candidate not to run. Had that candidate remained in the race, the 55 percent of voters we ultimately united against Cantor would have been split, and Cantor almost certainly would have survived—just as the divided opposition allowed Blackburn to prevail here.

In Tennessee there were three strong Republican candidates. There were no bad choices—just as we believe there are no bad choices heading into next week’s Wisconsin Republican primary.

Holly's Team's Unbelievable 2-Mountain Effort

(The team in the photo below—Justin Holt, Liam Klucarich, Logan Klucarich,Carly Klucarich – and not in the photo Tre Barrow, Logan Scott, Betsy Smith, and team leader Holly Klucarich—scaled the two mountains Michele Reneau was expected to lose. This photo was during a short break from battling lightning, flash floods, downed trees, and steep mountain roads that at times seemed determined to push them off the cliffs. Holly’s message above let them know their incredible work had paid off.)

A Speech on Critical Issues

Our speakers offer deep insight into today’s most urgent policy fights and grassroots strategies that are shaping the future of center-right organizing. From election reform and voter turnout to parental rights and school choice, we bring real-world success stories and lessons learned from both the front lines and the back rooms.

Topics can include how we’ve advanced conservative policy—even in deep-blue places like New Jersey and California—and how we’ve won more campaigns than anyone else when being outspent by more than 3-to-1. Whether it’s breaking through with Hispanic, Black, or young voters, or walking audiences through our latest wins in swing states like Wisconsin, our presentations are always data-driven and action-focused.

We cover how to stop overreaching liberal school boards and bureaucrats, and how to fight back against activist judges pushing Lawfare goals—an effort that reached its peak in attempts to prevent Americans from voting for President Trump by imprisoning, bankrupting, or removing him from the ballot through judicial activism.

We also address stopping illegal immigration that fuels human trafficking, fentanyl deaths, and violent gang activity—issues that hit close to home in communities across the country. And keeping men out of women’s sports, restrooms and even prisons.

Hear about the ground game that led to Restoration News citing our work as one of just three national success stories in the 2024 cycle link to article, with detailed quotes and strategy breakdowns.

We’re happy to tailor remarks to your audience—whether it’s a policy group, church leaders, campaign volunteers, or national funders. Past talks range from a 2017 Silicon Valley session with tech executives (back when Elon Musk was just the 20th richest man in America) to getting powerful candidate comparisons into the hands of thousands of targeted voters at just $1 per voter reached—five times more efficient than typical commercial efforts.

Let us know if you want a deep dive on winning over lawmakers after the campaign ends, how to run an effective church outreach push, or what’s working with third-generation canvassers in swing counties across America—or ask us to go deeper into one of the past issues covered in any of the dozens of headlines from past media appearances and speeches written about at wisconsinffc.com.

Q&A on topics like parental rights, limited government, election reform, and the future of center-right organizing. including why Restoration News featured WIFFC as one of 3 success stories showing the path to conservative victory.

Your Donation Can Change Conservative Turnout for Years to Come

A permanent campaign requires permanent commitment. Your investment today builds the foundation for victory tomorrow.

TV ads disappear in 30 seconds. Field operations create voters for life.

WIFFC proved it in a pilot in Ashland County—delivering a 10-point conservative swing by investing in year-round grassroots organizing.

For major donors, a $50,000 sponsors a field director:

 Builds trusted church-to-voter networks

 Trains local, faith-driven volunteers

Drives voter engagement in overlooked areas

Outperforms million-dollar ad blitzes at a fraction of the cost

For smaller donors, a targeted voter is reached for every $1 given; one-fifth the cost of paid canvassing operations. $500 = putting turnout lit in the hands of 500 more conservative voters who too often stay home in close election races.

Don’t fund noise. Fund movement.

Every day we wait, the other side builds.
